Can we also ask for special requests? One of the things that would help us (and CephFS users in general) is how performance of CephFS for small files (~512 bytes, 2k up to say 64K) is impacted by the amount of PGs a CephFS metadata pool has.

That's an interesting question.  I wouldn't really expect the metadata pool PG count to have a dramatic effect here at counts that result in reasonable pseudo-random distribution.  Have you seen otherwise?

I can't tell for sure yet. I'm going to perform some tests myself to try to figure it out.
