Add a removed OSD back into cluster

I did a dumb thing and removed OSDs across a failover domain and as a result have 4 remapped+incomplete pgs. The data is still on the drives. Is there a way to add one of these OSDs back in to the cluster?
I’ve made an attempt to re-add the keyring back in using ‘ceph auth’ and manually adding the OSD back into the CRUSH map, but after doing so the cluster complains that the OSD is not in the osdmap.
Is there a way to add this OSD back into the osdmap, or a better way overall to add this OSD back in. I’ve found very little documentation on this topic, so I am also wondering if this is not advised.
Any direction would be much appreciated,
