I think sharing the cluster will be fine, if the more recent (more
important? =) ceph cluster mons are kept alive then the old HW and
their separate device classes will do fine.
We have had ssd, hdd and slow-hdd-for-S3 share the same cluster and
while they had their own issues, we saw almost no problems that would
leak from one storage type to another for quite many years.
