showmount uses the MNT protocol, which is only part of NFSv3. NFSv4 mounts a pseudoroot, under which actual exports are exposed, so the NFSv4 equivalent is to mount /, and then list it.

In general, NFSv4 should be used in preference to NFSv3 whenever possible.

protocols.
