Hi, we definitely faced some issues, yes :) I don't say it's in any way impossible, and the blog details many of the problems. Test well on a test system with your setup if you are going to do it. The sync speed was a problem we couldn't get around though. The "actual migration" details the steps we did for the switchover once the data had moved, and that worked. You could make a process to do this over s3. It would involve more work to ensure all data is actually synchronized, and to make sure ACLs and other things are correct on the new side, but I'm sure it could be done.
