Thanks both for the pointer! Even with the vfs objects on the same line I get the same result.

This is the testparm for the share (I'm logged in as SAMDOM\Administrator):
[data]
         acl group control = Yes
         admin users = "@Domain Admins" "SAMDOM\Domain Admins" SAMDOM\Administrator
         force create mode = 0660
         force directory mode = 0660
         inherit acls = Yes
         inherit owner = windows and unix
         inherit permissions = Yes
         kernel share modes = No
         path =/samba/
         valid users = "@Domain Users" "@Domain Admins" "@Domain Admins"
         vfs objects = acl_xattr full_audit ceph
         write list = "@Domain Users" "@Domain Admins"
         full_audit:failure = connect opendir disconnect unlink mkdir rmdir open rename
         ceph:user_id = admin
         ceph:config_file = /etc/ceph/ceph.conf

If your vfs is connected to Ceph cluster I suggest to you samba@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx mailing list for resolving AD permissions issues.
