Fixing it with
rm -R -f /Users/mac/ceph/src/zstd/*

This seems like you still had some build artifacts left over from before and so the script didn't actually execute all the way through?

In general, any OS X build support is a sporadic effort that requires fixing lots of little things following changes. There's just not much demand, most of the system can't operate properly since it depends on features that aren't available to function usefully, and it takes a fair bit of effort to deal with the stuff that builds up when you aren't regularly compiling on the system in question. :/
