While running "make install" is of course somewhat of limited use on a distributed cluster, I would expect that it at least installs all the required components on the local system in the appropriate locations. The "ImportError: No module named rados" error sounds as if the local installation of a Python module did not work as expected - I suggest submitting a bug report about this.
