Optimal OS configuration for running ceph

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello everyone,

Please excuse me if this topic has been covered already. I've not managed to find a guide, checklist or even a set of notes on optimising OS level settings/configuration/services for running ceph. One of the main reasons for asking is I've recently had to troubleshoot a bunch of slow requests that were taking place in the morning after i've added a new node to our small ceph cluster. It seems that the mlocate service, which is enabled by default on Ubuntu LTS servers was causing the slow requests.

Therefore, I am asking the community if anyone has created and willing to share the check list of things to do after installing a new server which will be used as a part of a new or existing ceph cluster? If this document doesn't exist, does it make sense to add it to the ceph installation document?

Many thanks

Andrei
