query about running ceph from source code

Hi,

I am new to ceph deployment from source code. I am trying to run ceph (version Infernalis) from source code in virtualbox. I have built the source according to http://docs.ceph.com/docs/master/install/build-ceph/ and also installed the build using

sudo make install

I want to know what are the next steps to run the ceph from source. I tried to follow the manual deployment in http://docs.ceph.com/docs/master/install/manual-deployment/ .I have created the ceph.conf, the key rings.etc. But when I am trying to start the monitor daemon it is not starting following the instruction and I am getting faults

ubuntu@ubuntu-VirtualBox:~/ceph/src$ sudo start ceph-mon id=ubuntu-VirtualBox
ceph-mon stop/waiting

ubuntu@ubuntu-VirtualBox:~/ceph/src$ ceph osd lspools

Please let me know, what is the correct way to run ceph from source code.
