I have a few questions

Which version of ceph are you using? When was the filesystem created?
Did you manually delete 10002af7f78.00000000 from pool 8?

Ceph version is 0.94.5. The filesystem was created about 1.5 years ago using a Firefly release. The exact order of commands was:

- restarting MDS due to full log partition
- trying to remove the file via a ceph-fuse client
- restarting MDS due to log output
- trying to move the file to a different directory (was blocked nightly backup)
- restarting MDS due to log output

After the last restart the file was present in the new directory, but was removed without any further interaction from our side. The remove command seems to be executed after the file was moved to the new location.

I did not remove any objects from the rados pools manually. The file content itself is still available in pool 12 as 10002af7f78.00000000 object. It also still has its 'parent' xattr. Its content is

# ceph-dencoder import test.parent type inode_backtrace_t decode dump_json
{
    "ino": 1099556683640,
    "ancestors": [
        {
            "dirino": 1541,
            "dname": "10002af7f78",
            "version": 52554232
        },
        {
            "dirino": 256,
            "dname": "stray5",
            "version": 79097792
        }
    ],
    "pool": 12,
    "old_pools": [
        7
    ]
}

Burkhard
