LTTng tracing is now enabled via the following config file options:

  osd tracing = false             # enable OSD tracing
  osd objectstore tracing = false # enable OSD object store tracing (only supported by FileStore)
  rados tracing = false           # enable librados LTTng tracing
  rbd tracing = false             # enable librbd LTTng tracing

You can dynamically enable LTTng on a running process via the admin socket as well.  I created a tracker ticket for updating the documentation [1].
