rgw pool config with spinning cache tier

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi all,

We're setting up radosgw against a large 8/3 EC pool (across 24 nodes)
with a modest 4 node cache tier in front (those 4 nodes each have 20x
10k SAS drives and 4x Intel DC S3700 journals). With the cache tiering
we're not sure what the best setup is for all the various peripheral
rgw pools other than the main .rgw.buckets. Should these also be EC
backed and cached, or (I guess more likely) should they be x3
replicated pools, in which case should they be rooted on the cache
tier nodes or the main data nodes?

Our initial inkling is to put them on the data nodes as given the
tiering scenario these drives should on-average not be very busy
compared to the cache.
