Ya Ubuntu has a process called mlocate which run updatedb

We basically turn it off shown here http://askubuntu.com/questions/268130/can-i-disable-updatedb-mlocate

If you still want it you could edit the settings /etc/updatedb.conf and add a prunepath to your ceph directory
