jftr, packages for saucy and trusty *are* available:

http://ceph.com/debian-hammer/dists/
http://ceph.com/debian-giant/dists/
http://ceph.com/debian-firefly/dists/

We're running a cluster on trusty ourselves. But, granted, no utopic,
vivid or jessie support (except from Debian/Ubuntu themselves, but
they're of course on firefly at this time).
