Ah, I thought I had mentioned that in the previous email, but now I realise I left that important detail out! Here's what I meant to write:

When you do "ceph mds dump", if there are any up daemons, you can see them at the end of the output like this:
4113:    172.16.79.251:6818/46415 'a' mds.0.1 up:active seq 2

the "4113" part is the GID. If there aren't any lines like that, you don't have any up daemons and there is nothing to remove.
