Hi,

Short of changing the kernel, we've not found away...

This is how we got it to work using the elrepo kernel-lt (3.10)

rpm -Uvh http://www.elrepo.org/elrepo-release-6-6.el6.elrepo.noarch.rpm
yum --enablerepo=elrepo-kernel install kernel-lt
sed -i 's/default=1/default=0/g' /etc/grub.conf (millage may vary,
you'll want to check that)

You should then just be able to reboot and rbd map will start behaving itself.
