The main advantages is security and reliability, the software don't interact between each other, all daemons has different IP addresses, different filesystems, etc. Also, almost all of configuration files are shared between containers, all containers has mounted configs read-only mode from host machine, so I'm always sure for config files consistency. Main disadvantage -- you will have to install ceph by hands, without automation scripts provided.
