Well, 1GB is really the minimum. As Mark suggested, go for 64GB since that probably isn't the most expensive part of the machine.

You could go for 32GB of 48GB, but more memory == better.

    Indeed. The benefit of having more memory is that the page cache can
    do it's job and reduce the amount of read IOps on the disks.
