Somebody (Greg?) probably knows more about this then I do, but if you are just running in a Active/Standby MDS setup its fairly stable now.
Try to stay away from the snapshots (which are disabled by default now) and it should work.
Inktank is currently the only company providing professional support for Ceph(FS), so it's best you contact them.
