Hi Knut,

I have it on my “to-do” list to write a free open-source Ceph web GUI (in django). There is a ceph admin REST api that seems like all management functionality is exposed. I’ve yet to write a blueprint, but if you are interested in contributing, I’d love the help.

If not, please check the repo for updates. I hope to get a base app done before the end of the year.

Other than that, the only tool available that I am aware of is Inktank’s Ceph dashboard. They just recently launched it themselves, so I don’t think there is anything else out there yet.

Subject: Ceph management tools

I am doing some distributed storage research for a client and was wondering if you guys could point me to any Web/GUI tools that can be used to configure/manage/monitor Ceph clusters.

Also, in your opinion how does Ceph stack up to GlusterFS and Apache Hadoop? It seems as Ceph and Gluster are using a similar model by employing an algorithm to determine storage locations.

Any feedback on this would be very helpful. Thanks.
