I assume you're referring to the "ceph osd thrash" command? This is a
test/debug option which forcefully marks OSDs up/down and in/out of
the cluster when generating new OSD maps. It's useful for
developers/QA to exercise all the various recovery paths and things,
but is of no interest to users. :)
