Taking down a ceph-cluster

Hi folks,

Just a bit confused about how I'd go about taking down a ceph-cluster. I assume that unmounting all the clients (rbd, fuse, fs) and running ceph-deploy purgedata for each of the nodes that make up the ceph storage cluster should do the trick, correct?
However, executing ceph -s immediately after still shows the status of the cluster to be healthy. However, executing the same command after some time, shows me a fault. Is there a minimum time that one must wait before checking on the status of the cluster from an admin node?

Also, am I missing some steps in taking down a ceph-cluster?

Thanks,
Hari
