I was referring to the RGWListBuckets implementation for swift and realized that ‘need_stats’ is set to true by default, https://github.com/ceph/ceph/blob/master/src/rgw/rgw_rest_swift.h#L46 I realize because of this, the listing of buckets at a user level for one of our workloads with potentially large number of objects in a container is taking forever. Is there a reason why it is true by default, am considering to fix it. This was introduced here http://tracker.ceph.com/issues/4759.
