Hmmmmm, looks like ext4dev only was the case in 5.4. I've just checked in 5.5 and got:
LABEL=/data             /data                   ext4    defaults        1 2
so a mount -t ext4 should work, as kernel-2.6.18-194.8.1.el5 provides /lib/modules/2.6.18-194.8.1.el5/kernel/fs/ext4/ext4.ko.
Do you run some vps or something ?
