I followed your advice (don't get me wrong: I followed anybody's advice 
here), opened the box ("What does he mean by attaching the disks to the 
SCSI controller instead of the RAID controller?"), duly noted the codes 
on the cards, googled a bit more, found out that one of my cards is an 
SCSI controller, the other one a RAID controller, decided to do exactly 
that, switch the cable, reboot, and...

... yesssss!

Mogens, you're a star! I see my disks now! It works! Thanks very much!

(OK, now I can finally go to some well-deserved sleep)
