I am seeing this in the syslog when starting a multi-homed CentOS-5.3 host. Oct 6 08:35:04 inet04 nm-system-settings: initial_add_devices_of_type: could not get device from HAL: An SELinux policy prevents this sender from sending this message to this recipient (rejected message had interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Manager" member "FindDeviceByCapability" error name "(unset)" destination "org.freedesktop.Hal") (9). Which appears to be this bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=465442 However, I cannot tell from the bug description and commentary what is actually going on. What does this message mean and how is the situation reported rectified? I speculate that this error is somehow related to the fact that eth1 is not activated on boot by intent, but I cannot tell for sure. If anyone has the explanation of what is happening, what it means, and how this is fixed I would appreciate learning it. Regards, -- *** E-Mail is NOT a SECURE channel *** James B.
