In the last LTS version (8.04), half of the audio apps had no sound for a month or so, until Ubuntu fixed the problems with Pulseaudio. At the time, I had given Ubuntu 8.04 a shot in our public libraries and had some very embarrassing moments. Solution: stick with CentOS, rock-solid and *real* LTS.
