gcc: fork: can not allocate memory

Hello,
The above is on a CentOS 5.3 machine, a vps actually. I started
seeing it a few weeks ago when i was trying to get an ssh-key program called
keychain going. It required an entry in ~/.bash_profile after that i started
seeing the above error and compiles kept failing or tasks wouldn't complete.
I commented out the lines that started keychain, and for measure rebooted
the box. For the second time in the past 24 hours i'm seeing this error
again. I've never seen it before and am open to suggestions.
		Thanks a lot.
	Dave.
