I thought I might have done something that caused me not to receive
notifications from PUP or Pirut, after the upgrade from CentOS 5.2 to
5.3 (32 bit)......   I am not getting those notification popups in
GNOME either! However, on page 16 of the NSA manual about Hardening
RHEL 5, they say that "The yum-updatesd service is not mature enough
for an enterprise environment......" and they suggest disabling it and
replacing with a "cron job that calls yum directly".
