-----Original Message----- From: centos-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx [mailto:centos-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of RobertH Sent: Wednesday, January 28, 2009 10:04 PM To: 'CentOS mailing list' Subject: getting Centos on "used" rackable systems 1U with dual Opteron 248 HE hi there. anyone have any tips on params to pass to the kernel etc in order to install Centos4 or Centos5 32bit or 64 bit installed on this unit [snip] for this case, please assume for now that the hardware itself is not "bad" thanks in advance... [david] Have you checked install logs for error messages? During install it is displayed on one of the virtual consoles. Not sure which. One of the Install User Guides documents the purpose of each one used and the key combinations [david] needed to switch between them. I think it's ALT+(something)+Fn(n=1...). You can also boot from the live CD to run diagnostics.
