For archival purposes:

Solved the problem by realising I had by mistake deployed a new
/etc/bashrc-file to all RHEL-machines including my test-CentOS-computers.

Copying back the pre-rollout bashrc-backups on the affected
CentOS-workstations finxed the problem.

Human error...
