Try:

  # ln -s /usr/java/jre1.6.0_05/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/lib/firefox-1.5.0.12/plugins

The stuff in /usr/lib/jvm looks like the gcc java implementation.
