Hello,
I believe the options in /etc/fstab should be:
defaults,rw ? Not defaults [dot] rw

Thanks for correcting me ,with the mistake.Now no error were logged and directories were mounted. :-)
But the File Sytem type is still FAT16.what's the issue with file system type.
I formated the /dev/hdc12 using mkfs.ext3 but the file system shown is still FAT16.

[root@localhost etc]# mkfs.ext3 /dev/hdc12
