I would then suggest getting a wireshark setup to monitor the traffic as it passes through the gateway. If the gateway host doesn't have a GUI then I suggest another host with 2 interfaces, one on each side of the NAT and compare the timestamps of traffic coming in from the Internet to the NAT, out of the NAT to the client, in to the NAT from the client and out of the NAT to the Internet.
