Is it a speedstream of some sort or is it a 2wire variant? What is the contents of /etc/ppp/pppoe.conf The newer speedstream modems (if you can call them that) can retain credentials. Have you tried connecting to it and seeing what settings are in there? Do you have /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ppp0 ? What is the contents of that file? Have you tried a simple 'ifconfig ppp0 up'? Try seeing the settings of your config via the main menu System > Administration > Network. Try this as well 'system-config-network' What does it mention (if anything) about ppp0?
