Right ... it seems on some hardware (and versions of cdrecord) that is
true.

Try this on your images (make a backup) before you burn it:

dd if=/dev/zero bs=2048 count=150 >> filename.iso

(of course, substitute your ISO filename for filename.iso)

Then burn it and run the media checks.
