The problem with doing it the way you did is, you forgot you were
using an RPM-based distribution. Now rpm doesn't know about your java.
And when your java needs to be updated to patch something, rpm won't
be there for you.

Don't get me wrong, I've done it the lazy way too. But it's not the Right Way.
