currently booted fedora, but i suggest it's the same doing
compare your output of ifconfig and the output of the related lines
(ethx) from /etc/sysconfig/hwconf regarding your mac address.
if they are different, then
- remove or backup /etc/modprobe.conf
- remove or backup /etc/sysconfig/hwconf
- (maybe a modprobe -rv forcedeth; modprobe -sv forcedeth)
- run kudzu ( writes new files: modprobe.conf, hwconf)
- reconfigure your network with: System -> Administration->network,
especial here the mac-address (via edit-> tab hardware device)
cause there are hardlinked
...
