of the various APIC/ACPI options? e.g. "noapic noacpi apic=off
acpi=off"?

People should use "acpi=off" as their last option, not the first :) ACPI is really useful!

For your reboot problems... try to add "reboot=bios" or "reboot=triple" instead.
