you must either use \ to escape ( and ) (like this    php-pear\(PEAR\)

OR

use single quotes like this

'php-pear(PEAR)'

so

yum whatprovides 'php-pear(PEAR)'

AND

the answer is:

I do not see anything that provides that in my repos
