Have you tried gzip or bzip?

Hi,

Recently I've got several errors in one of my backups systems. The
backup system uses basic tools: rsync, mysqldump, and zip and have
worked fine until a few days ago.

The zip command shows an error like this: size limit exceeded.

So I've found out an alernative : p7zip.
It seems to has all the needed features:

* available package (in Dag's repo)
* 64 bits for size (http://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3031109)
* support several compression format

¿What do you know about this tool?

TIA.
