their cats and dogs) is using 3Ware on Linux these days. I have (P)ATA,

motherboards...
Maybe. But I have made certain my BIOS (both mb and card) were always up
to date.
The problem had nothing to do with bios being up to date. That is why
3ware maintains a list of compatible motherboards. But I did leave out
one important bit...the problem I have seen involved riser cards and was
resolved after getting a particular riser card from a particular
manufacturer.
