I have a 2950 with (what from linux) is called a PERC 5/i with SAS drives. I
worked fine even with 4.3 :-) (no tweaking, no fiddeling)

The driver is called megaraid_sas, and yes it is true hardware raid.

Expansion ROM at fcd00000 [disabled] [size=32K]
