Todd,

If you have any problems with updating yum, get right yum package from:

http://isoredirect.centos.org/centos/4/os/x86_64/CentOS/RPMS/yum-2.4.3-1.noarch.rpm

and install manually (rpm -i <name of package> )

if you will have any problems get me sudo access to your box for yum and I will do it.
