OK. Now I'm a bit confused. Raid 1 read performance is not what I
expected.
md does not stripe reads in raid-1. As can be clearly seen on my raid-1 setup on
two ide drives:
[root@balrog ~]# hdparm -t /dev/hde
/dev/hde:
Timing buffered disk reads: 136 MB in 3.01 seconds = 45.17 MB/sec
[root@balrog ~]# hdparm -t /dev/hdg
/dev/hdg:
Timing buffered disk reads: 126 MB in 3.03 seconds = 41.52 MB/sec
[root@balrog ~]# hdparm -t /dev/md0
/dev/md0:
Timing buffered disk reads: 124 MB in 3.01 seconds = 41.24 MB/sec
[root@balrog ~]#

And if it turns out that there is a God, I don't believe that he is evil.
The worst that can be said is that he's an underachiever.
