I see in CentOS 3.6 - the release notes state that it has "improved support for dual-core processors" I got that from http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/RHEL-3-Manual/release-notes/as-x86/RELEASE-NOTES-U6-x86-en.html Where might I get more details about this improved support.
