The only update I know that requires a reboot are the Kernel updates, 
all others generally require a stop/start of the service and your on the 
way again. You can excluded the kernel updates by adding a line in your 
config files. If you use multiple repo files then you will need to 
either put the exclude in all of them that offer Kernel updates or put 
it in the yum.conf file.
