SMP kernel on old Asus CUV4X-DLS motherboard

Hmmm...  I have the latest BIOS (1016).  I had same problem booting 
from the install CD even with latest 1016 BIOS, but I solved that one 
by disabling all not used devices in BIOS (serial ports, parallel port, 
secondary IDE controller).
