CentOS doesn’t ship with certain patent-encumbered packages, such as ffmpeg-libs, which I believe is necessary for Firefox on EL7 and EL8 to use certain codecs.
I believe that elrepo.org <http://elrepo.org/> has ffmpeg-libs for el8.
